| My Story... |
![]() | Believe it or not, I started knitting around 6 years ago. My Great grand
| mother taught me to crochet when I was in junior high school, but I never really took to the hook. |
![]() | When my baby girl was 7 years old, we learned that she has an immune
| disorder that attacks her eyes. Her disorder was difficult to treat so we spent lots of time sitting in doctor’s offices and waiting rooms. During one her first eye surgeries my mother taught me to knit. Momma was working on a “Guide Post” sweater and I really need something to do with my hands and my mind. I fell in love with knitting. It's a good thing too. I knitted through eight more eye surgeries, four 8-hour I.V treatments, and dozens of Doctors appointments. Knitting became my escape, and my companion. I could keep my ADHD-hands busy while my mind relaxed and processed some very difficult information. |
![]() | Once ME (our daughter) was in remission, we learned that I also had an
| immune disorder. Mine was a little different. Among other things, it attacked my wrist and hands. Ultimately, I had a very painful wrist surgery and lost some of the use of my right hand. As soon as I could, I was knitting. Knitting helped with the pain and improved my flexibility. My precious husband understood the importance of my knitting and did everything he could to make sure I had what I needed to keep my hands and mind busy. |
![]() | During my treatment and recovery, I had my weekly blood work done in a
| facility that also treated people with cancer. I saw so many different kinds of people during my visits to the lab. The obvious difference in the spirit of each patient left a lasting impression on me. I saw several people with withered bodies but an undeniable fire in their eyes. These men and women would bravely hold their heads up as they struggled to walk under their own power into the lab for more blood work. After watching these brave men and women, I decided that when my returned I was going to do something that I was passionate about, something I felt lead to do and something that would also help other people with their own journeys. I decided to open Bella Lana Knitting. |
![]() | So much has happened in such a short time... Since we opened our doors,
| so many amazing things have happened. Shortly following our 1st birthday, we moved into Mountebanq Place, a beautifully restored building in the heart of down town Conway. Our space has exposed brick; 15 ft restored tin ceilings, twice the space, and tons of windows. We also have the pleasure of sharing our building with “That Bookstore at Mountebanq Place”, a wonderful bookstore with a cat named Miss Kitty. |
